After years of experimental albums investigating the possibilities of improvisation, this splendid project by Maurizio Abate continues the solitary journey of rediscovery of the acoustic guitar inaugurated in 2015 with “Loneliness, Desire And Revenge”. Published by Black Sweat Records in collaboration with Boring Machines, which edited the CD version of the disc, “Standing Waters” restarts right where the speech had stopped, further expanding the plots to conquer large spaces in the name of a “visionary freedom expression “daughter of both Fahey and Basho, as well as Jim O’Rourke’s most inspired moments. The five pieces have rather considerable durations, two exceed ten minutes in search of an increasingly” fluid “sound, in constant evolution.
