08.10 /// RAINBOW ISLAND in concert

Domenica 8 ottobre alle 18.00

RAINBOW ISLAND

///

Rainbow Island are an interdimensional-psych band based in Rome, Italy. Crystal Smerluvio Riddims is their second LP following their acclaimed debut RNBW, released in 2012, two cassette releases and their participation in the Interdimensional Folklore Vol. I compilation release by the Milan Communion collective in late 2016.

Rainbow Island is a prominent voice in the Italian psych underground and in the Rome psych community that gravitates around the Dal Verme club, the Thalassa festival and bands such as Mai Mai Mai and Heroin in Tahiti. Rainbow Island’s drummer also played a few dates with Mai Mai Mai in the past months.
Rainbow Island explore interdimensional territories and frequencies coming from distant universes and unchanneled frequencies. Rainbow Island sound brings together elements of electronics, psych-space rhythms and temporal explorations. RNBW was meant to be the inauguration of the project and the launch of the journey to the unexplored Bongolandia, while Crystal Smerluvio Riddims is the continuation of the exploration, brought to a more mature and conscious level. In this new album Rainbow Island’s futuristic psychedelia meets dub and primitive rhythms.

In Rainbow Island words, the rhythmical heart of each composition included in Crystal Smerluvio Riddims is made of a concept of lightning coloured multidimensional bismuth crystal and smerluviante viscous matter. Crystal Smerluvio Riddims is Rainbow Island response to the raising dark Aggrocene geological era and it smerluvio matter. The album is a blob of chaotic sounds and information overload in the shape of a crystal, a place where Rainbow Island tripping across sounds and influences comes together.

Crystal Smerluvio Riddims is released jointly by Flying Kids Records (FKR) – FKR also released Rainbow Island’s first album RNBW in 2012 – and the Rome-based NO=FI Recordings, that already worked with Rainbow Island in 2013 for the tape Road to Mirapuri. The graphics project for the new album has been curated by multi-artist Canedicoda, who is also responsible for the experimental project Ottaven.

30.09 /// RAOUL VIGNAL in concert

Sabato 30 settembre ore 18.00

RAOUL VIGNAL

//

“Inciso nel 2015, The Silver Veil è une preciosa gemma acustica sospesa tra le malinconie del folksinger e i virtuosismi del primitivista con poetiche ballate crepuscolari strappate al cielo sopra Berlino”. – Luca Salmini, BUSCADERO may 2017

“Un disco davvero più vasto e profondo della sua estetica, non a caso, laconica ed essenziale, che proietta Raoul Vignal tra i nomi più rilevanti apparsi nel nostro Continente e non solo negli ultimi anni.” – Lorenzo Righetto, ONDA ROCK, album of the month, April 2017

“Trattandosi di un album sostanzialmente lineare, non vi è molto da aggiungere dal punto di vista tecnico, sebbene si debba evidenziare quanto la produzione polverosa curata da Martin J. Fiedler contribuisca alla resa di un lavoro intrinsecamente profondo e sentito.” – Samuele Lepore, THE NEW NOISE.it

“Raoul Vignal ha tutti i numeri per distinguersi dagli altri, sia per capacità di scrittura che per la sensibilità e il gusto che trapela da ogni canzone. Un disco dalla bellezza tremula e sfuggente, a tratti commovente, che si fa amare come una piccola cosa preziosa, da collocare accanto agli Herman Düne, ai Sodastream o a Matt Elliott.” – Ignazio Giulotta, DISTORSION

04.10 /// Common Eider, King Eider /// live

Wednesday, October 4th at 730 PM

COMMON EIDER, KING EIDER
live @ VOLUM E

Common Eider, King Eider is an evolving art and music collaboration between Rob Fisk (Badgerlore, Six Organs of Admittance/Hexadic collaborator), Vicky Fong, Andee Connors (A Minor Forest), Andrew Weathers and Blaine Todd. A potent mix of blackened ambience, drone and silence incorporating viola, vast chorale arrangements, and field recordings.
Labels representing CEKE since their inception in 2007 include Cold Spring, Pesanta Urfolk, Black Horizons, Root Strata, Sol y Nieve, and their own imprint Caribou People.
Swelling vocal abstractions augmented with lush blankets of layered viola stretched out of time- hushed, yet unnerving to experience. Terrifying, beautiful, spare, the sound of light nullified and at the same time a celebration of the power and beauty of the sun.

“If you like shit like Sunn O))), Swans, GSY!BE, Thisquietarmy, Lustmord, Haxan Cloak, Mamiffer and Sutekh Hexen, then Common Eider, King Eider, will take you on an unforgettable voyage through the most remote corners of your mind and deep into the most hidden crevices of your soul, tunneling into you until your ego completely disintegrates” – CVLT Nation
“The project’s latest album, Unhuulda, has a heavy environmental focus and its five movements sound like a dark forest evening” – Noisey
“As with a lot of Fisk’s work (Badgerlore, Deerhoof) there’s the feeling of the music summoning up vast untamed tracts of wilderness, the unfathomable deep of the lakes or endless forests, or the sheer violence of nature that can catch one completely unawares” – Incendiary Mag

///

“ Become Zero is an obliteration of the senses to leave one wrung out and euphoric, offering both epiphanies from Heaven and elegies from Hell. ” – The Quietus
“The most interesting feature of Helen Money’s live performance is the ease at which Chelsey’s compositions shift between the two poles of vulnerability and harshness. The whole performance comes off as simultaneously heavy and disarming.” – CVLT Nation
“ Become Zero is spare but heavy, dark but beautiful, melodic but meditative.” – The Guardian
