In A Silent Way by Miles Davis was recorded and released in 1969.
The album blends rock with jazz and is one of Davis’ first real attempts to explore the musical genre defined as fusion, a direction that would become more pronounced and evident in his later work Bitches Brew.
At the time of its release, the album generated controversy and conflicting opinions among critics, especially those who dealt with jazz and rock were divided between those who considered the album a masterpiece of experimental music and those who denigrated the work as a commercialization and bastardization of the jazz genre. Since then, the record has now left its critics behind, and is now considered by critics and audiences to be one of Davis’ best and most influential works.
